Website Upgrades for Hot Strings Guitar Shop
July 2nd, 2008

Hot Strings Guitar Shop of Milford, Connecticut has contracted with NetThink 21 for website maintenance and upgrades. They elected to preserve the look of their current site, while updating the content and code.

The major issues with the previous site included a reliance on table-based layout, outmoded javascript image swaps, and limited content. These problems were all remedied, resulting in a cleaner and faster-loading site template. The main menu now uses text and CSS over a background image, for better accessibility and search engine rankings. The static html pages were converted to php scripting.

Content was also added at the direction of the site owner, including:

  • An embedded Google map that you can click and drag
  • Automated contact and sign up forms
  • Additional graphics were edited with Adobe Photoshop
  • Creative copy writing

Further aesthetic and functional improvements included:

  • Current page indicators on the menu to help users navigate
  • Click on the Hot Strings Guitar logo in the top left of the page to return to home page
  • Hover over the logo and it displays a title for the home page link
  • Hover mouse over the pictures on the site for an additional caption to display
  • Page file names will better reflect their content to help on Google

The upgraded website is now online and a preview image is below.
