
Category 5 Amplification of Austin, Texas hired NetThink 21 to design a dynamic new emblem to symbolize their company. They planned to machine the finished design out of sheet metal and affix it to their amplifiers as a badge, so we created a suitable vector design using MicroCAD software.
The creative brief included “automobile hood ornament” as a point of reference. The number 5 needed to be represented, along with a storm symbol to represent the Category 5 hurricanes the company is named after. First, several concepts were drawn out using vector shapes, and presented in black white for approval.

Category 5 selected the concept above, and once approved, we created a textured mockup for the client to visualize what the design would like on their product. The emblem takes on a brass color with a beveled edge and scuffs, and a textured green vinyl background completes the look.

Based on the mockup, the client took the CAD files to a machinist who cut out the emblem from metal sheet. Here is how it looks on the actual product:
